I lived at Sunrise Apts from early June 2024 until late September 2024.
In August, I applied for an extension to stay in Zambia longer. I didn't want to pay for the entire month of September because I was concerned that the Zambian Immigration Department might tell me I have to leave Zambia on short notice, if my application for an extension was declined.
I explained to Ms. Mulenga, the apartment manager & her Supervisor, Mr. Danny that I didn't want to pay for the whole month and not be able to get money back from them if I have to leave suddenly.
They assured me that there was absolutely no problem with me getting my money back from them if I paid for the month and still had to leave Zambia.
I asked them what is their process for getting money back to me if I had to leave?
They explained that it was very simple. They go to the bank and get the money they owe me for days I haven't stayed there, that I've already paid for.
And give that money to me.
They told me they could give this statement to me in writing, if it would make me feel better about getting my money back.
I asked for the guarantee in writing. I never received it.
The date of my scheduled flight out of Zambia came. The Zambian Immigration Department hadn't approved, nor declined my request to extend my time in Zambia.
I told Ms. Mulenga 2 weeks ahead of time I would be leaving Zambia. Again, on Monday of the week I would be flying out of Zambia, I reminded Ms. Mulenga I would be leaving the country.
A few days before I flew out of the country, I asked Ms. Mulenga for a refund for the days I paid for but wouldn't be there.
Ms. Mulenga asked me, "How do I compute the amount of money I owe you for the days you will not be here?"
I answered her by saying, "The same way you would calculate how much I owe you, if I owed you money for a certain number of days."
I wasn't able to reach her Supervisor, Mr. Danny. I wasn't reimbursed for the days I paid them for, that I didn't use.
I had other similar experiences with Ms. Mulenga in other situations. But I will not go into those situations. This review is long enough, as it is.
Great place to stay with superettes and malls within the vicinity. Clean and well ventilated rooms. Nice beddings. Very good staff, attended to our requirements with speed and always impressed. Will definitely stay again.
